You know, of all the names for a band that involve goats somehow, Goat Sanctuary is the one I'd least associate with a Thrash band, but here we are. They call their music Brutal Thrash, which really means it's standard Thrash with a kick of Hardcore in it, which is partly reflected in the fact no song on here hits the 3-minute mark. They got plenty of energy and some solid musicianship, but the songs end up sounding fairly samey, and the vocals range from a slightly harsher than average Thrash yap to iffy clean singing to some shitty shrieks, none of which do many favors for the music. At only 10 minutes, this is a bit too short for me to say how good a full-length would be, and fans of more Hardcore influenced Thrash might like it more than I did, but this left me a bit cold overall. |
