Sangre Negra (Spanish for Black Blood) is a one-man act from Chile whose debut, El Vuelo del Condor Negro (The Flight of the Black Condor), works as if nothing happened past the first wave of Black Metal. The production is raw and varies in quality between tracks, the songs are simplistic and evil, the playing is dirty and a bit sloppy, and the vocals are a low gargle stuck inside an echo chamber that tends to overpower the music while not necessarily being in time with it. That might make it sound amateurish and bad, but really, it's just dedicated to that first wave ideal of being evil noise first and foremost, and it has enough raw, nasty guitar work and misanthropic attitude to pull it off. A cool debut from a promising band. |
