Significant Point is a Japanese band with a demo, a single, and oddly enough, a live album leading up to their debut, Into the Storm. Speed and energy are this band's bread and butter, so speed metal is an apt description of songs like "Attacker" and "Heavy Attack". Even though they play fast for much of the time, Significant Point also display quite a lot of melody in their songwriting which effectively separates them from the thrash crowd. They also have a dash of the technical proficiency many Japanese bands are blessed with. The singer has an '80s kind of voice, not too different from former TNT singer Tony Harnell. There are a lot of solid elements to Significant Point's music, though the one that is lagging is the songwriting as there are no real killer songs on Into the Storm, just a bunch of solid speedy metal tunes. I recommend checking it out if the loose, energetic '80s metal typical of European (non-British) bands with a touch of Loudness' precision and Earthshaker's melody sounds like an interesting concoction. |
