Total second-wave and early 2000s black metal worship here. I don't know why I had never heard these guys before, but this is good stuff. Heavy, dark black metal that both get you down and yet throwing your fist in the air thanks to a dark atmosphere and a production that really highlights the heaviness of the music, but at the same time they have a bit of a At the Heart of Winter-era Immortal (and what they did later) thing going here that really props this up and keeps the listener hooked from beginning to end. You get a good mix of busy, fast black metal but also a good dose of dark melodies that will get stuck in your head. Fast and slower, more atmospheric black metal is what this is about, and that eerie atmosphere somehow fits the blasting music like a glove. Good stuff.
