With all the "retro thrash" bands out there, it's kind of refreshing to hear a thrash band that thrashes differently even when it's not really my thing. Diabolos Dust play some decent, but unremarkable groovy/modern thrash that won't revolutionize the genre, but it has its moments. The playing is a bit clinical and could use more rawness and crunch, so this feels a little lightweight for the genre. The vocals are what you can expect from the genre, a slightly harsh but clean enough style and there are some more upbeat moments that remind me of what you'd hear on some crossover-ish party thrash. I can't say the album left much of an impression after it was over despite many listens, but it's good while it's on. |
