Final Day is the debut full-length album from Finnish band Satan's Fall and follows a demo, EP, single and compilation. They play '80s-inspired metal like a lot of groups from northern Europe, and they've got as good a grasp of what that that music should sound like as any. Quick paced but not power metal speed, Satan's Fall tear through anthemic metal cuts like "Forever Blind" (the only song carried over from one of their earlier releases), "They Come Alive" and "Juggernaut," rocking your eardrums with tasty riffs and choruses easy to latch on to. There is a lot of energy to the performances and the songwriting as a whole is strong, which makes the 36+ minutes of Final Day seem shorter than you want and hitting play immediately after it ends very easy. If you enjoy current bands such as Traveler, Haunt and Pounder and early '80s releases from Savatage and Malice, you should add Final Day to your collection. |
