Malta's Void of Chaos are a brand new addition to the death metal scene and this is their first single while they're working on a debut album. I can't say that "Feel the Rot" brings anything new to the table, but it's a cool, kind of catchy song. That guitar tone blends so well with the drum sound that it has a very infectious effect and I just can't get the song out of my head. The vocals are a bit of a hybrid between death growls and "extreme thrash" harsh vocals and the lyrics are mostly decipherable, which just adds to the song's catchiness. Despite its relatively short length, "Feel the Rot" changes directions quite a few times, which I found makes it feel longer than it actually is—in a good way—and definitely keeps the listener's interest up throughout. I'll be curious to see if Void of Chaos can keep this up for a whole album.
