So back in 2006 several dudes left Centinex and formed this band, and here they are chugging away 14 years later. I don't even have to tell you this band is Swedish, because the first ten seconds of the first song would tell you that. This is Swedish Death Metal so prototypical the country ought to just trademark it. Demonical sound like they just backed the truck up to Sunlight studios and loaded for bear (though it wasn't actually recorded there). What keeps this from being generic is the barbaric songwriting that wallows in heaviness and crushing riffs, and the sometimes inventive rhythm section that keeps the energy level up. The production is thick and so heavy it sounds like sheer destruction, all while keeping that Entombed-style bite to the guitars. This isn't doing anything a thousand other Death Metal bands have done and will do, but here it's done really well. |
