Gotta love the band name. Speedkiller are quite aptly named as Midnight Vampire is killer speedy heavy/thrash metal with demonic vocals—not quite decipherable—that add kind of an evil vibe to the ensemble. This is a modern take on a very old school sound, think of the mid to late-80s Brazilian death/thrash that took the world by storm and still destroys everything in its path to this day. This stuff is very raw and almost lo-fi, giving it kind of a live or rehearsal room sound that gives this more punch. I don't think this music would be quite as effective with a cleaner, refined production. Lots of crunchy guitars and fast drums, lots of chaos and they only slow down to further pound your face into the ground. If you like raw stuff from the first wave of black metal and the aforementioned Brazilian era, Midnight Vampire meshes them together admirably and leaves you begging for more. |
