This is some cool old-school death metal that throws you back to the early days of the genre, mostly drawing influences the New York and Florida schools and doing a good job of mixing the two and they also tiptoe on the death/thrash fence as well, with a bit of a late-80s thing going. The album is largely heavy with crunchy riffs and the band rarely lets off the pedal so there's plenty of speed to go around. When they ease things off a little bit, it's only to switch to a slow, menacing and sometimes melodic style that's delivered with plenty of hate and rage—cool atmosphere. :) It's not what I'd call original, but when it's this well done, it doesn't matter. |
