Damned for All Time is the debut full-length from Greece's Sacred Outcry, a band that plays an interesting mix of epic and power metal. Songs like "Legion of the Fallen" possess a pounding rhythm section propping up twin guitars, melodic keys and gravelly vocals in a way that makes you feel like you are watching 300. On the other hand, you have "Lonely Man" which features cleaner singing, catchy choruses and, after a reserved opening, the double-kick speed and neo-classical guitar work of Italian power metal. It all works together quite well as Sacred Outcry don't bank on the speed too often, and Damned for All Time isn't a one-note affair. It possesses more variety than a typical epic or power metal album. There's some nice songwriting happening here, showing this is a band that has the potential to knock some socks off in the future. If classic Manowar with a dash of Labyrinth sounds appealing, look no further than Damned for All Time. |
