No, not the venerable Doom band from Sweden, this is a young band from Argentina who play heavy, hooky Trad Metal with a definite lineage from the classic US Metal sound of the '80s—very much influenced by Helstar, Attacker, and maybe Liege Lord most of all. The guitar sound is heavy and crunchy, the riffs are slices of classic goodness, and vocalist Charly Coria has a decent midrange and a powerful upper-register wail. Songs like "One with the Universe" and "Strange and Twisted Gods" are prime pieces of classic-sounding Heavy Metal that any old-school fan will love. Really, this album is really consistent, and there are no skip tracks. A really strong debut from a band to watch. |
