The fact that this is a Cuban band made me curious, as I know life isn't easy for Black Metal musicians in that country. Skjult are actually a one-man band who have been fairly productive, as there is already a second album out after this one for 2020, bringing the total to four. I suppose it makes it easier to make albums when your Black Metal is as orthodox as this, but that doesn't mean the quality is poor. The production is actually pretty good on this, and the playing is solid. There's nothing bad here, it's just extremely well-trod ground, with the music sounding like it could have come from any number of other bands in a similar vein. This is competent, but unremarkable. |
