Sounding something like the hideous mutant child of fellow countrymen Thergothon and Vainaja, Krypts play a crawling, nihilistic breed of Doom-infused Finnish Death Metal that distinguishes itself solely through being heavier and uglier than most of its counterparts. They hit all the marks you'd want from this kind of thing with slow, churning riffs, deep guttural roars that bellow out Lovecraftian themes of entropy and death, and a dirty, booming production with a massive lower end that makes it all sound like it's echoing straight from the depths of R'yleh, all while invoking a mood of menace and desolation that surpasses most of their competition. I can't say this is particularly novel, and the songs do blend together a little, but that doesn't stop this from dragging your ass into the depths of madness as an offering to fulfill the insatiable appetite of the Outer Gods. Killer shit. |
