This is a Chilean band who have been around for like 18 years and yet this is only their second album. In fact, they were in existence for like a decade, putting out 5 demos, 4 splits, and an EP before they released their debut in 2013. So this is a very underground, cult band. I think their name is supposed to be a combination of "slaughter" and "sabbath", but really, it just looks silly. The music on here, while pretty formulaic, is not silly. This is a band working that classic Death/Black strike alongside bands like Angelcorpse, Sarcofago, or Diocletian. The recording job is propulsive and heavy as fuck, with a modern gloss on the chaotic riffing. It makes for a very Osmose kind of sound, overall. This album never lets up, hammering through its rather short running time, and while it is not boring, it doesn't do anything to really stand out either. If you like this kind of raw, bullet-belted mayhem, then Alchemical Warfare will get your rocks off. |
