Based on the band's name, I was expecting wall-to-wall brutal death metal but this is not quite it. Slaughter Monolith does have its share of brutality but there's a lot of plain 'ol death metal to feast your ears in here as well, even with some strategically-placed melodic passages that balance things off pretty well. The band is more of the "modern" death metal school, so expect that sound that started showing up in the last 10-15 years rather than 30 years ago—fast, laser-guided precision and a bit clinical at times.
