Third Stortregn album getting a rerelease, and it just highlights how solid a band this is. Stortregn are not reinventing the wheel here. They play well-produced Black Metal with Death Metal drumming and a dash of Dissection-styled melody, and they do it well. But this band just has their shit together in a way that a lot of these kinds of bands do not, and their songwriting is fucking solid as a rock. All their albums are good, and all of them are consistently enjoyable from start to finish. Nowadays this style of late-90s/early 00s melodic Black Metal is almost retro, and if you want some of that, then this band does it as well as anyone ever has. |
