Finland's Sargeist have been around for just over 20 years, delivering punishing black metal since their beginnings. This EP is very much in the same vein as their previous output. Raw, fast, cold and hateful-as-fuck, perfect for those who don't like their black metal sugar-coated. Forget pretty, forget any kind of innovation, Sargeist just do what they do best here and make no excuse for it. The music is uncompromising, but I also find the vocals give it a whole other dimension, catapulting it into the stratosphere of hate and disdain. Powerful stuff. |
