In case the band's name wasn't enough of a hit, Gutted Alive play brutal death metal. I'm repeating myself like I have in the past several years by saying that there isn't anything groundbreaking on this album, but it's good enough to warrant a look if you're into the genre. The band is largely about speed, though they have their slower moments that should really feel more crushing, but the production here is a bit too thin to achieve that effect, which is a bit of a shame. Maybe that comes off better in a live setting. The vocals are mostly regular death growls and not particularly intelligible, and they do have a few pig-squealish vocals in there as well, which I surprisingly found not to be as annoying as those usually are. So, nothing you haven't heard before, but it's pretty cool while it's on. |
