Winterwolf formed in 1997, then became Deathchain in 2001, and that band has continued on its own path. But original member Corpse decided to recruit some old Deathchain members and resurrect the original band. Considering Deathchain's slide into tedium on recent albums, I was not sure what to expect with this, but what you get here is an unambitious but satisfying slice of Swedish-styled Death Metal. There is a very familiar sound to the songwriting here, and you will swear you have heard some of these riffs before on a Dismember album. But still, this is heavy and propulsive and will show you a good time if some crunchy Death Metal is what you need. Not at all above the pack, but decent enough and miles better than Deathchain have been lately. |
