The Swedish Metal scene is nothing if not reliable in its output of quality music, and Scarblade's 2016 debut, The Cosmic Wrath, certainly didn't change that when it came out. Starting life as Ruthless Steel from 2012 to 2015, Scarblade have everything you could ask for in Heavy Metal: nice hooks, catchy and often beautiful melodies, solid songwriting, and spot-on solo work, all of which is bound to put you in a good mood. Singer Aliki Kostopoulou has a fine voice for this kind of thing, and her performance helps cement this as basically a more modern version of Chastain or L.A.'s Hellion. There's not a whole lot more to say, but for quality straight-up Metal, there doesn't really need to be. Give it a spin. |
