I love reviewing a Children of Bodom album and that is mainly due to the fact that you know exactly what you are going to get. The formula over four full length releases has pretty much stayed the same. Absolutely insane guitar work provided by Alexi as well as lightning fast keyboard work provided by Janne. All this rolled into some incredibly catchy songs that take you no time at all to get into.

Well the Finnish juggernaut rolls on with their new album which will surely please any fan of the band. There aren't really any surprises here except for maybe a bit better overall production and more attention placed on the vocals. The jaw dropping interplay between the keyboards and guitars is still ever present and the overall riff work some of their strongest to date (especially on tracks like Chokehold and Needled 24/7). I am not sure if the Century Media version of the album includes the bonus track since I bought the import but since the bonus is a cover of Slayer-Silent Scream I certainly hope so for the people that didn't buy the import. I normally could care less about bonus tracks one way or the other but this one is done extremely well.

Overall this album is exactly what I expected and fans of the band will certainly not be disappointed. If you are new to the band this would also be a pretty good starting point since it is the most accessible of the four although it is pretty damn heavy. Another excellent album and yet another reason I have to see this band live so I can experience some of this massive energy in person.

Favorite Tracks- Needled 24/7, Chokehold, Hate Crew Deathroll.

Highly Recommended.
