With a title like this, and songs like "Headaches" and "Devoid" I could make all kinds of jokes here, but it just doesn't seem worth it. I listened to one track of this last night, and I'm betting I could write this review without even listening to the rest and be spot on – but I won't, so hang on while I play the rest of this thing. (Grit teeth) Twice.
Okay, I was right. Depressing when a band cannot come up with any surprises. You would think, on a 15-minute demo, that a band would do something – anything – to try and stand out from the crowd, but nooooo. What we get are four virtually identical songs that are grindcoreish, hardcoreish, and every other kind of –coreish that I don't fucking like. If you own any Soilwork or The Haunted albums, then you have already heard everything this band can do, will do, or is trying to do. There are no examples of egregiously bad musicianship or outstandingly stupid lyrics here, but there's nothing remotely interesting about it. I don't hate it, but it's blah – a waste of time.
The packaging is nice for a demo, decent art design, fairly cool logo. Somebody obviously put a bit of work into this, but they're running hard in the wrong fucking direction. Let me say this again: this is supposed to be METAL. All that shaved-headed hardcore screaming angst and blasty grindcore bullshit is just that – bullshit. We already heard Napalm Death, and they sucked the first time. We don't need to fucking hear it all over again. PLAY SOME FUCKING METAL! Not this punk-ass bullshit. Metal has riffs, actual riffs! And solos! And Death Metal bands do not write songs called "Headaches" – a headache is what bands like this give me. Write about demons and human sacrifice or virgin rape – I don't give a fuck about your inner pain or your goddamned feelings. Play some music that kicks ass or get out of my face. Fuck, I'm losing my shit. Thank the Metal Gods for real American bands like Cage or Seasons of the Wolf, save me from the hordes of buzzcutted wannabes like this. Another disc for my box labeled "Shitty Promo CDs" - a box that is getting depressingly full.
