Vandallus is a Cleveland, Ohio-based band that plays in the hard rock/heavy metal style of the early '80s. Their second album, Bad Disease, complete with inappropriate-by-today's-standards artwork, is a fun, rocking romp of high-powered riffs, catchy melodies and high-pitched screams. The guys in the band have done fine work capturing the energy of the early metal movements from both the US and UK and wrapped it up in an authentic-sounding production that brings the solos front and center and coats the vocals with just the right amount of echo. The opening track, "Infected" describes in one word what happens when you start listening to Bad Disease and the air guitar or air drums will be out before you know what hit you. It isn't the heaviest stuff, but that was never what made the NWOBHM so much fun. Bad Disease is a treat for anyone that grew up on or discovered later bands like Tokyo Blade, Witch Cross, Battleaxe, Shok Paris, Fifth Angel, etc. |
