Good things come into small packages. Fornications may be short, at just under 13 minutes, but it packs one hell of a punch. This was originally released as a split EP in 1990 and I'm glad someone decided to reissue it. This is death/thrash that's a bit more extreme than what has been the "norm" for a while, with growls that often flirt with brutal death, a bit of a departure from the mix of harsh thrash vocals mixed with more accessible death growls. In this short period of time, Expulser take the listener on a trip that takes them to very fast-paced passages, some slower thrash moments and also slowing things down a bit here and there. I had this stuff on repeat for a full afternoon and didn't even get bored. Not that many bands can pull this off, especially with such a short release. |
