This is the first EP French Crossover-thrashers Verbal Razors released in 2009 when they started to churn out their uncompromisingly punishing mix of Crossover and Thrash Metal. It sounds darn good yet all too familiar to my old ears that have experienced the whole 80s Hardcore/Punk movement. Verbal Razors' performance is hostile and aggressive with the kind of "we-don't-give-a-shit" attitude that feels genuine and 100% honest. At times one can hear Anthrax's punk side and the bullshit-free approach Motörhead always had right to the very end. The band's energy level seems to go straight through the roof when they turn the volume levels to the max. Verbal Razors' Settling of Scores is a nice reminder of the heyday of 80s Hardcore/Crossover scene and if that particular scene has ever made you feel at home, then I am positive you'll find this French bunch appealing. |
