Another band using the word "speed" in their moniker, this one from Croatia called Speedclaw. Have you heard Metallica's Kill 'Em All? Of course you have and therefore you've heard everything Speedclaw serve up on their EP Iron Speed. Echo-soaked vocals from the NWOBHM, guitar riffs cranked up to Thrash speed, bashing drums and lyrics about metal stuff ("Mistress of the Night" "Power from Hell"). The songwriting is rudimentary, like something that would have been rejected for Metal Massacre I, but the sound pretty closely approximates that time in history, which is cool. If you're into really early Metallica and bands that gave them the spark like Diamond Head, this one is for you. |
