Finnish thrashers Bloodride are no newbies to the Metal scene. The band consists of old farts who have played in many other bands (Astaroth, Deathmarched, Angus Dei, etc.), so all this experience pretty much speaks for them. Planet Alcatraz, the band's third album, continues in the same footsteps as when they first started churning out old-school Thrash some 16 years ago. No-frills, straightforward, harsh and uncompromising Thrash Metal is the name of Bloodride's game, and don't even try to hide their influences (such names as Exodus, Slayer, Sodom, etc. come to mind every now and then), spiced up with vocalist Jyrki "Jykä" Leskinen's raw grunts that have always fit in well with the band's in-yer-fuckin'-face music. Such fist-pumping Thrash anthems as "Baptizing Demons" and "Rat Racer" are just a couple of good examples, making your head spin like there's no tomorrow. If you like your Thrash Metal old-school, without any artsy-craftsy overly technical finesse crammed into it, Bloodride is definitely for you. |
