This Death/Thrash combo hails from Cluj-Napoca, Romania and has been around since 2011. Age of the Covenant is the band's second album, and it kicks ass. Musically, Decease sound like more Thrash-orientated Cannibal Corpse, with hints of Death and even tiny bits of Vader here and there. It's technical (fortunately not overly technical), mean sounding and ready to annihilate everything from one continent to another. The guys keep the tempo constantly high with only a few breaks here and there. What I really like about this album is that its entertainment level is relatively high. Decease's tightly and sharply played mixture of Death and Thrash Metal has a lot of skills behind it. Guitarist (and vocalist) Radu's crunchy and somewhat all-mangling guitar parts earn a special mention for sounding so heavy and devastating. As for the vocals, they are your typical bellowed death barks, and perhaps even the weakest link. Some improvements could definitely be done in this department. |
