Rogue One

Other than some plot holes, not bad. I'm enjoying the move away from obvious CGI.

Unfortunately I can't sit in movie theatres anymore - confirmed that last January with The Force Awakens. So I'll have to wait to see this one.

The theater here has recliners but I actually find them less comfortable. I do like having my feet up.

There was that when I went to see Iron Man 3, but it's the leg room that was the problem.

There's a new movie theatre in town that apparently has very comfortable VIP seating, but it's like $25. Nope.

The Shining
Great atmosphere and scenery, rather lacking in character and plot.

Lacking in character? Nicholson's transformation was pretty cool, I thought. The kid is annoying and Scatman Crothers is basically Scatman Crothers at a deserted mountain resort, so I'll give you that.

What transformation?  All I saw was Nicholson, who always seems crazy no matter what he does.  I think the book, in spite of its many failings, did a better job at giving the characters at least some depth, though I still prefer the movie because it does a much better job making the setting a character.

He goes from being a surly, taciturn failure to completely unhinged.

Eh, my hatred for Leto's Joker kept me awake.  One of the few times a movies kills a character and brings them back and I actually say "NO, DAMN IT, WHY COULDN'T HE STAY DEAD!?"

They just had Too Many Characters, too many elements with no time to develop them.  Everything is crammed in and rushed and has no weight.  I thought Leto's Joker was good.  Would have been a better movie with him as the villain instead of the pointless Enchantress.

Also the way the movie opens is just soooo damn cheesy and campy, it makes me wanna turn it off every time i try and watch it!

Can't say I agree with you on Leto, but everything else is spot on, along with the facts that the entire movie could have ended by the 30 minute mark if everyone wasn't an idiot and that it's attempts to rip off Guardians of the Galaxy are blatant and terribly misguided.
