I really love this series. I've learned a lot from it, and its given me more than a handful of albums to check out. Really nice work.

Why's that?

Probably because just like on YouTube, a published list is often questioned to no end with "wtf, why isn't X album on this list!? You guys suck."

But yeah, I like this ongoing post series. Cool stuff!

I'm surprised as well that we haven't gotten any "why isn't album xyz on the list?"

I guess that just goes to show the intelligence and sophistication of our readers  8)

I think its a cool list because it lists the albums that aren't always the usual suspects. I can go to any list and see metallica, megadeth, dio, priest, etc....

The most popular bands are not usually the influential ones, they are just good at taking what has come before and generally making it more accessible.

It's interesting to me how me and Mike often independently picked the same bands but different albums.

Are you guys going to do a sixth part in the series for 2005-2015? If you guys do it, i'd be really curious to see what you come up with.

There is one more chunk of 96-05 coming. Personally, nothing comes to mind in the last 10 years as being overly influential. I'm sure that will change as time goes by but most haven't been out long enough to have had a proven, lasting impression. Maybe Sargon will feel differently.

We have plans to start in on a "huge mistakes" series. Will have to see how far we get with that. The first one is in the works and I have an idea for the second. After we will have to see.

I could think of a few, but it is harder to pick out genuinely influential albums from just a few years back.
