Best of 2016
« on: January 05, 2017, 12:50:51 PM »
What's up everyone, no lists for our personal favourites from last year yet? Taking the lists of others as a reminder and filling in the blanks on what you missed is always the best part about a fresh year ;)

To get the ball rolling, mine:

 1. Blood Ceremony - Lord of Misrule
 2. Babymetal - Metal Resistance
 3. Sol Sistere - Unfading Incorporeal Vacuum
 4. Messa - Belfry
 5. Drudkh - One Who Talks With The Fog - Pyre Era, Black!
 6. Purson - Desire's Magic Theatre
 7. Mare Cognitum - Luminiferous Aether
 8. Epica - The Holographic Principle
 9. Vaults of Zin - Kadath
10. Cough - Still They Pray

1. Megadeth - Dystopia
2. Eternal Champion - The Armor of Ire
3. Sumerlands - Sumerlands
4. Anthrax - For All Kings
5. Testament - Brotherhood of the Snake
6. Desaster - Oath of an Iron Ritual

I haven't listened to many new 2016 albums. I listened to a lot of older stuff this year.

I keep seeing the new Anthrax on lists and I think it sucks. Not sure what I'm missing here. Saw them in September and the new stuff didn't sound any better live.

I forgot to mention Swallow the Sun's Songs from the North. The first disk alone makes it worth it. It is heavier and with much less clean singing than emerald and the black forest. Disc 3 is really interesting, never would have thought StS would try Funeral Doom. They seemed to incorporate more and more clean singing with each album. Empires of Loneliness is a great track from Disc 3. The run of songs from 10 Silver Bullets to The Memory of Light is amazing.

My bad. I didn't get around to buying it until early 2016.
