Urn - The Burning

This is some pretty wicked Black/Thrash!

I agree with you about the production, Terry Jones and even that the riffs aren't as strong but I really enjoyed the songwriting and found the storytelling excellent. I don't usually pay a lot of attention to lyrics, not when they are abstract or abstruse anyway, but I found myself trying to follow what was happening on these songs. My 2 cents.

Are we going to talk about how in the middle of "Danse Macabre" they just break into "Carry on Wayward Son" ?

No, we will not be speaking of that. Don't nitpick.

That's not exactly a nit, it's kind of a big deal.  For a band that prides itself on riffs to just rip one off like that.

It's 15 seconds in one song so I don't think of it as a big deal.

Venom, Inc. - Ave

This is not especially mind-blowing or anything.

Yeah, but then it doesn't go on to do the rest of "Carry on Wayward Son", and I kind of wish it would, and then I realize that "Carry On" is a much better song, and the whole album kind of disintegrates.

As much as I like that song, that is disheartening to hear.

I love that album so much. I always wanted to find anything similar to them, but they were pretty unique.  I also must admit that I only found out about this album due to it being in a Tony Hawk game. I always edited the soundtracks on those games to only play the Metal and occasionally hardcore tracks. Haha

I could never get past the nasaly cleans on here, still a killer album though.  Their guitar player actually grew up with one of my good friends, met him a few times cool guy!
