Everything prior to Poetry is timeless.

They are very different albums.  Epica is still definitively Power Metal, while Black Halo is a lot different, with the Gothic and Symphonic sounds they would get more and more into.

The Black Halo was the first album by them I heard and everything else has had to compete with that since so my experience with Kamelot is probably different than someone who has followed them for a long time.

OT
Queensryche - Operation:Mindcrime

Still blows me away every time I listen. Everything came together for the band on this album.

Agreed. I don't know if it was ever my favorite (that changes all the time) but it has NEVER been out of the top 5 of all time.

I'm looking forward to getting around to the Ruins of Beverast.

Nah... Utter crap.

  :D
Actually to me, some of the finest moments of Priest's whole recording career happened on that album.
British Steel is my third fave album from them - Screaming taking no. one spot and Defenders being good number two.

Vulvagun - The Painful Road to Eden.......I was a huge fan of the debut back in 2011, silly name but it's the music that matters and with this sophomore effort the Aussies are right on point.

Seven Kingdoms - Decennium........Being a sucker for Power Metal in the vein of early 2000's late 90's this reeled me in upon first listen.

Kobra and the Lotus - Prevail I.......Sweet melodies and silky harmonies, I found the songs to be catchy as hell, I haven't spent much time on the previous catalog, I need to revisit.

Mindmaze - Resolve.......Always consistent, it's been a recent quality run of female fronted Heavy/Power Metal with the three releases I've just highlighted.

Pyramaze - Contingent......Disciples of the Sun had mixed reviews but I enjoyed it, this pretty much picks up where Disciples left off.

Ra's Dawn - From the Vile Catacombs.......It's been eight long years since we last heard from these Germans, heavy progressive riffing with a sprinkling of thrash elements, worth checking out for the uninitiated.

Labyrinth - Architecture of a God......Always been a fan of these guys, really nice return to form, holds up well to "Return to Heaven Denied" period.
