Haven't posted in an age, hope you're all well.

RE: Lost Horizon, AFttGB is still incredible, it's a shame Heiman's vocals overshadow the music for so many. It always come off as incredibly deep and passionate to me, and the playing is top tier.

Lately:

Titan Force - Titan Force
Medieval Steel - The Anthology Of Steel
Chastain - The 7th Of Never
Atlantean Kodex - The Golden Bough
STARBORN - Taking power metal to the streets.

Inheritance - Better Being Alone

Vocals are a tad rough, but this is some killer prog/power.  Really loving the guitar work and tone.

Might as well chip in about Lost Horizon. First album has better songs, the second has the transcendental atmosphere that makes it a classic. Both need to be heard if you're getting into power metal, but they get hyped up way too much. The fanboys put me off.

This, they get hyped up as the be all end all of power metal.  I missed the albums back when they came out and when i go back its just like really, this is what all the fuss is about.  I agree Daniel Heiman is a great vocalist, but I would take Dark Moor, Kamelot, and even Sonata Arctica of that era over them most days.

Funny you should mention Kamelot, as I immediately linked them to Lost Horizon as my diet at the time was Awakening The World and Karma. Blind Guardian had just put out out A Night At The Opera; it was a good time to be listening to this stuff. I jammed the first Iron Fire a lot back then, too, and tons of HammerFall before they released Crimson Thunder. Then I got into more obscure stuff like Zonata and The Storyteller. Awesome times.

Havok-conformicide

Had the review done and ready to send in but the more I listen to the album the less it holds up. It certainly doesn't match Time is Up which still kicks ass today. Still a good album but not as good as my initial review....need to make some adjustments...lol

Iron Maiden - The Book Of Souls
Iron Maiden - The Number Of The Beast

A strange pairing I had last night. Totally did the trick.

RUDE - "Remnants..."

Killer old school Death Metal from the USA... Sounds like early Morbid Angel added with Martin van Drunen on vocals.
