IPOD changing the way you listen to music?
« on: August 17, 2006, 06:46:41 PM »

I have noticed that since I finished my quest of going through every CD I own and putting my favorite songs on my IPOD I hardly ever listen to CD's anymore. The only time I actually listen to a CD is if I have just gotten it and have yet to add songs from it to the IPOD. I do have to admit it is absolutely great when I want to listen to a band and I only hear my favorite songs instead of listening to everything. With close to 7000 songs on my IPOD the thought has not even crossed my mind to break out a CD.

I use a CD player at home and an mp3 player for outdoors.

So I listen to CDs just as much.

I don't own an iPod, but I have all my music in mp3s on Musicmatch on my computer. I still usually listen to full albums.

I don't have an iPod, but I do have my collection ripped to mp3s. When I'm on the computer and listening to  on my stereo is not an option (like late at night when the family is sleeping), I use those. I'm off to college in a week, so those mp3s are going to be my only option while I'm gone.

I have all my albums on my iPod, but I am running very low on room.  I also listen to albums all the way through on it.  I guess I feel like that's how I should listen to the songs because that's how the artist intending the songs to be.  I really like having so much music in my hand though. thumbup

I listen to mostly CDs still, sometimes tapes and sometimes vinyls. When I'm on the go though, I always have my MP3 player along with compilations I make myself. For a long distance runner, an MP3 player is perfect (no skipping, and several hours of music instead of having to hear the same tape for 3 or 4 hours).

Most times, I listen to cds when being at home. I just prefer the power of my stereo.

I listen to mp3s on my pc when I don't have the original or when I want to make a compilation. The mp3 player is always there when I go to university.

I definitely agree to that.  Plus you can put it on random and get a pleasent surprise with every song, that's what I do when I'm running.  Although you do tend to look like a jackass when mouthing lyrics while running.

This reminds me of sth really funny. I was on the bus to university. Deadly full. We couldn't even take a step to rest to be a little more comfortable. It was one of the few days I didn't listen to music on my mp3 player. There was a guy at the front, some steps in front of me. We was listening to music and seemed to be really into music 'cause he was headbanging a lot. Some people were staring at him 'cause of this.... And at some unexpected time, we heard a loud "UUURRGGGHH"....  laugh laugh

He realised what he did and was really embarassed.... Anyway, that was funny at that time especially because noone expected that. Nearly happened to me either at some time... icon_razz

Maybe I have just taken it to far...these are the plug ins I have bought for my IPOD...

Clock radio so I can go to sleep listening to music and the alarm wakes me up to whatever band I set.

Bose speaker system for work which has now unfortunately been banned because of someone getting hurt and saying it was because of the radio he was listening to.

Cables to plug it into my home stereo which sounds amazing.

Cables to plug it into my Nissan Titan which has a stereo which was already MP3 player ready (all I needed was the cable instead of the FM Transmitter).

Shure ear buds

Sony noise cancelling ear buds.

So you see there really is no time that I couldn't listen to it. Hell it even plugs into my xbox 360 and plays in any game I happen to be playing (which is great considering the crappy music in most games). The more I think about it the more it seems I have become my IPOD's bitch... Grin

Conan, it's not Wise to mess with that guy, he's got 3000+ years of Greek wisdom on his side and all you have are McDonalds and Jerry Springer.
Coming back to the topic, even I start mouthing lyrics when I'm jogging, it's natural.

I don't like mp3 that much, i listen to them only when i have to check new stuff or waiting for the latest interesting releases..occasionally i use Musicmatch at work but also when i'm outdoor the first choice is still a good old CD.
IPOD has never been on my want list.

I usually listen to Mp3's in the car. Most of my music listening is in the car. I don't own an Ipod and I don't think I'll ever get one.
