Grisham's The Summons - am I really going to stop reading his stuff (for a while) after this? It's probably the worst I've read by him thus far, not very exciting at all.

I haven't read that one.  What year was it published?

2002. It's not bad or anything, but it's really underwhelming and short, and I'm about halfway through it and still haven't come to anything exciting that makes me want to keep reading.

I have to actually force myself to get up and read it, which I never did with The Rainmaker or The Street Lawyer, or even The Pelican Brief.

He's had a few lacklustre books in the 00s - stick to the older stuff.

I read the complete collection of Poe's (written, not poems) work during the entire past summer.  Poe's writing is addicting to the extreme.

Currently reading "The Black Echo" by Michael Connelly. The first novel to feature Harry Bosch - an amazing character.

Agreed. Poe's ability to craft a bleak yet still dark atmosphere through minimal characterisation is amazing. Great writer!

As a sidenote - I am re-reading my Wheel Of Time collection as homage to Robert Jordan. Shame he died before finishing the last one - I am really eager what will happen and what conclusion will finish the series.

I wouldn't be reading them now if I were you, I'd wait for the last books to come out, that's right books, it may take 20 books, instead of the proposed 12. Before he did, Jordan stopped writing the last novels and told his wife how he wants the series to end, he chose the authors he wants to finish his legacy and made his wife custodial to the story, so that if she thinks one of the authors isn't writing according to Jordan's wishes she sacks him/her. So, although Robert Jordan won't be writing the last novels per se, they'll follow the plan, a rather detailed plan, that he left his wife. Though re-reading the series as a homage to Robert Jordan is a good idea, I may actually do that after I've read all these books I've got sitting here. Though I did plan on waiting until the last of them has been written, even if that is 10 years from now, and read the series from book one to the end... yet again, I seem to re-read the whole series when a new book is released!

I'll have to pass this information to my friend, who is a HUGE Wheel of Time fan. Thank you!

But see - a writer is already chosen in Brandon Sanderson. If you read Mistborn - this is the guy that wrote it. And they said that Jordan left excessive notes, audio recordings and even some parts of the book already written. So therefore the guy is not in the complete blue for this - he is rather following an outline which may be sketchy at times but still there is a way to around this book. I just hope they will not change the writer mid-project as this may only serve for the worse and for example adding a "big name" would not benefit the project much.
