Guitar help.
« on: August 07, 2006, 10:40:48 PM »

If anyone can suggest guitar techniques, books, software, websites, etc. that helped them improve their guitar-playing abilities (especially rhythm), I would very much appreciate it.

-Thanks

Nothing replaces one-on-one lessons with a professional.  If you have the money, go this route.

Im kinda self taught.. I used to read sometheory..but it really bored me..So I play by ear..PRACTICE! and dont get frustrated..What I did, was try to bypass the easy shit and went straight for the difficult stuff..Mind you I already had a base of knowledge proir to my foray into more difficult songs..But I pushed myself..I bypassed the intermediate stage and I consider myself an accomplished guitar player.

Basic guitar tab helps at first.. I say slap on a cd, grab your geetar and try to play along!Youd be surprised!

There are also online tutorials like hand positioning, other techniques.Just giv'r!

Yup, as mentioned before, the best way is to initially get help from a pro.
However, if you're a loner like me, Guitar Pro 5 and Ultimate-Guitar is an awesome combination. And yeah, practise!

Yeah, I've done that with a few songs but I usually get stuck when the scales are changed. Tricky stuff.
