Nile have now truly failed the ejaculate of Atum, and have sent the mighty seed to sink in the primordial abyss.  Osiris laughs.  The Aten now reigns.

Hail Sin!

The Lordi band kinda reminds me of another band that has the same exact get up.....GWAR anyone atleast dont try to rip something off that has ben done before. Dressing up like a bunch of retarted demons was and always will be Gwar.

But by that reasoning, no BM band should wear corpse paint, noone should wear bullet belts or sport long hair. It has already been done by another band before.  ::

That is not going mainstream. That is thinking - Ozzfest is support venue for Nile. If they can play for their fans all over the country and even have some new ones after the even why not go for it? After all - to them it is a gig as always.

You have absolutely right, but with Lordi that's their only thing...

Is Nile being interviewed alongside 50 Cent and Avril Lavigne on MTV?  Are their videos being played after Justin Timberlake's during main hours of MTV programming?  Do they have a reality TV show lined up inbetween Flavour of Love and the Surreal Life?  No, they are just playing Ozzfest.  Maybe 25 % of the people going to ozzfest will have heard of them.  What about Wacken?  That is a huge metal concert attended by vast amounts of people, but the bands there arent "mainstream", nor are they "underground".  Nile wasnt really "underground" to begin with.

No its just that its just a gimmick I can deal with a bunch of different black metal bands wearing corpse paint and ammo belts as long as their music is some what decent. In this case though another crappy band that gets attention from wearing those costumes is just sad.

You mean Death Metal wasn't mainstream before?

Even then, here's a quote from Nile's Karl Sanders.

Quote
Been getting a lot of messages about Ozzfest, and the general concensus is, we are either giving a good reason for metalheads to go to the show, or we're going someplace we don't belong becuase we're "too heavy for Ozzfest".

Well, here's how I see it.

There is a brief scene in Pvt Ryan,
during the opening sequence on the Normandy beach ,
where just for a few seconds the camera moves to a viewpoint
of a German Machine Gunner - looking over his machine gun sights down onto the beach-who is laying waste to countless U.S.
soldiers as the doors open up to their boats and they are all just helpless
and vulnerable , in the water and struggling onto the beach ,exposed to devastating machine gunfire -
and from this vantage point, one can not help but get the feeling , if only for a moment , of what it must feel like to be that machine gunner ,
with so many helpless targets right in your sights to mow down at will.
Of course , for that Machine Gunner , you also feel that , however awesome it must be for those priceless few moments of Godly Slaughter ,
t will inevitably be short lived , because he is soon to be roasted alive in his Bunker as soon as Tom Hanks and friends make it up the hill.
But for those few moments of unimpeded opportunity to mow down wave after wave of helpless targets ,
it had to be utterly Godly.

Thats why we are doing Ozzfest.
We will be the first Real Death Metal Band to ever play Ozzfest ,
and the chance to lay waste to thousands and Thousands of Mall Metal Posers is just too once-in-a-lifetime to pass up.
In the words of Ross Dolan,
"Metal will take place"

I could care less about how much incredible exposure it will be
to play Ozzfest ;
I am just thrilled at the possibility of Metal Carnage on a Mass Scale.
Those Venues will look like Omaha Beach when we are done.

Nile were never underground to begin with, as a matter of fact, whenever anyone here mentiones death metal, Cannibal Corpse and Nile are the first two bands to be named...though my first reaction would be Morbid Angel.

I dont know where i heard it from, but is Ozzfest free this year?

That was fucking hilarious! At least Nile can say something humerous in regards to Ozzfest, unlike Dragonforce's reasoning.

Yes.

And I still wouldn't go.
