I subscribed to Decibel for a couple of years because it's so cheap that it covered enough metal to make it worth the $$ (plus their "making of a classic album" feature often made it worth getting it alone).  But they cover a hell of a lot of shit that has little or nothing to do with metal, so I don't really understand why their best-of list surprises you.  It has always sucked.

It's just that they pride themselves on being "the only monthly" metal mag these days.Once Metal Maniacs stopped,my choices started to disappear. Are there any metal mags out there anymore?I really do miss them.If there's any,PLEASE let me know!

Terrorizer is still around, but just to piss people off they occasionally cover things like Slipknot and other things even less metal-ish.

There's Zero Tolerance too, and Power Play which covers a wide spectrum of artists.

I was focusing on metal-only (or in that specific case, almost metal-only).  I bought several issues of Power Play a few years ago, but it's hit or miss - some issues don't have too much metal, while some are packed with it.  It's very expensive over here, so it's good to know whether an issue has enough interesting content before buying.  I haven't read Zero Tolerance in years.  I got a couple of free issues at shows back in the day, but I wasn't particularly crazy about it.

I appreciate the suggestions, guys.I guess I'll just have to stick with Decibel because a year subscription to Terrorizer is over 80 US dollars! icon_eek
And Zero Tolerance and PowerPlay just don't seem to have enough metal in them.Thank God for amazon.com,though, where you can buy books, music, etc. for cheap. icon_cool

Have you even read Zero tolerance? It's nothing but metal bar the odd neofolk/70's rock review. Fair enough it's 90% black/death metal but still metal all the same. I thoguht it was just a UK/irish publication anyway.

Yeah I think it is, I just assumed it would be available overseas.  icon_smile
