Most of the site will (should - assuming the scripts work ) be down on January 18 to join the Anti-SOPA/PIPA Blackout (learn more here: http://sopablackout.org/learnmore/ )  Another piece of flawed U.S. legislation that would have worldwide implications and has the potential for serious damage to the entire Internet.  Apparently they have given up on SOPA (though that usually means some variation with a few commas added will show up later), but PIPA is still on the table.

The site will be back online on January 19 (assuming it went offline in the first place, and that the script to put it back online works - fun fun!  )  And hell, if this attempt to black out the site fails, at least you'll be aware of what's going on by clicking on the link above.

Many sites are participating to this blackout, including Metal-Archives, Wikipedia and many others.

I have not read too much into SOPA and PIPA (I will now ) However, I can say that NO ONE is more out of touch with technology and the internet than the U.S. Congress.

I saw this morning that some representatives who were previously backing the bill have changed their mind as a result of the blackout.

SOPA is such a fail.  I thought America, Land of the Free, was all about freedom and freedom of speech.  Apparently not, if they are going to mess around with one of the best places to declare your views.  And all for a few dollars.
