Obscure and underrated Metal albums that should get more recognition...
« on: November 21, 2011, 04:09:27 AM »

There are obviously many Metal albums out there that perhaps haven't received all that attention as they should have deserved in the first place. I have quite a few in my mind, but am gonna start this topic by mentioning CYST's "Concussion Symphony" that was released in 2002 already: awesome, downright aggressive and very riff-driven Thrash Metal is what that record is all about -  performed the way I like it best.

Just managed to find and buy a second-hand copy of it for myself, which I am truly happy about.  ylsuper

I think i like this website mostly because this is the kind of stuff we discuss most of all, unlike other websites where its all about the latest Roadrunner album to be released.

Any links to check them out? Myspace or Youtube?

Also, old school Thrash Metal fans should definitely check out JUMALATION; a Thrash Metal band from Finland that was actually the very 1st signing to the California-based Old School Metal Records.

The band's debut album, titled "The Church of Isaac" was recorded some years ago already, but unfortunately due many unfortunate setbacks between the label and the band, it never was released on OSM Records at all.

A very limited edition 100 copies of the CD was put out by a small Finnish label Metal Warning! Records just a couple of weeks ago - and I guess the whole edition might be very close to be sold out now. But no worries there because the vinyl version for this is already in the works too - and it'll be released the latter mentioned label, as I have been informed...  icon_cool

Also, I was just brownsing through the internet today at work - and this San Jose, CA Metal act Taunted caught my attention so much that I decided to order their debut full-length studio album, titled "Zero", from CDbaby.

If you like sort of Nevermore-meets-Metal Church-meets-Forbidden type of stuff, then here might be something for you too...  icon_cool

Here's a link to preview some of their songs: -> http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/taunted <-

Sorry about my crazy 'spamming' to this topic, but since I gotta believe most of you really dig some good yet obscure Metal bands that deserve to get promoted just a little bit, here's one more: this time this Thrash Metal band comes from Brazil and they are called Disaffection. They have only released one album called "Begin the Revolution", and that album has a pretty strong  Bay Area Thrash wrapped all around it; hear it yourself from -> H E R E <-

Ah, Throne of Chaos. Remember this Finnish band very well. They started out as some sort of C.o.B. clone band, but after their debut record, they changed their style musical drastically. "Acid Highway" is one of the songs off my least favorite T.o.C. album, "Loss Angeles". I prefer their 1st two albums though.

From Alberta, Canada came once this kick-ass Speed/Thrash/Death Metal act called DISCIPLES OF POWER...  ylsuper

Here's a song called "Shades of Grey" from off of their "Power Trap" album from 1989.

Grief just hate everything and it really shows in their music. Come to Grief isn't as raw as Dismal but it's Grief at their best

A band i heard about the doom network has made my week.

The band is called Orbero from Stockholm and they just debuted with their new album.

I just can't get enough of these 2 tracks, they feel like a mix between Briton Rites and Orchid

Haven't heard their other stuff but Loss Angeles is amazing.
