Now THERE'S a mag that went totally downhill in the last 20-25 years. Maybe they'll give an award to Creed, Nickelback, or Hinder. After all, Jethro Tull got a Grammy for best metal act once. Then again, at least Jethro Tull has actual musical talent, even if they're not metal.

Lady Gaga tweets about it. James Durbin brings it on American Idol. And our host Chris Jericho represents it on Dancing With the Stars. Metal is taking over the mainstream, and the Revolver Golden Gods is its biggest, baddest celebration.

I was reading a womans magazine the other week (don't ask why) and I read that Lady Gaga was going to include some "metal elements" in her next album.

It seems to me that people don't like listening to metal. However, they like the idea of listening to metal.

Maybe they are too lazy or too uninformed for the real thing, so they accept these poor 'substitutes'. People just turn on their TVs and watch what is fashionable or acceptable. They think they know what they're talking about and that's more than enough for them. I am not an expert but I've been listening to metal for more than twenty years and some times some idiot has tried to explain to me what metal is. Sheesh.

I was reading a womans magazine the other week (don't ask why) and I read that Lady Gaga was going to include some "metal elements" in her next album.  

Lady Gaga is all about the image.  The music is completely un-inventive  and nothing extreme however it's her persona that draws people to her.  Her "metal" influence is more likely a costume or setting for a music video than actual metal.  

I read that she lists Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden as an influence for her career.  By listing metal as one of her influences she continues to "shock" mainstream audiences.  People are attracted to the outrageous, and Lady Gaga fulfils that role.  

Her new album is apparently: " Described as "a marriage of electronic music with major [...] metal or rock 'n' roll, pop, anthemic style melodies with really sledge-hammering dance beats"  When "metal" and "rock'n'roll" are put next to each other, you know that the "metal" they are talking about is how society thinks metal sounds.

Sometimes I feel the same. However, every wise man has once been an ignorant, so I keep hoping. Maybe humanity is like a diamond mine, you have to go through tons of rubble to get to something good, but it's worth the effort. Just like the Internet.
