Meh, they didn't get to me as much as the other one. And yeah, I know it's futile to hope that a mainstream shit-fest of name-dropping like these would actually nominate some good bands, but I can't help but feel like they're mocking the entire genre with this bullshit.

Yup, this is an affront to all that is good and metal. What I can't believe is just how small and exclusive the "mainstream" metal scene is. I'm still finding terrific artists I didn't know anything about every single week, and almost every one of them is better that this junk.

Of course, actually doing awards like this for metal would be impossible and pointless, because of the sheer amount of talent that's lying around. At least that's how I see it.

Corey Taylor didn't get anything, he just presented that award. Motley Crue were the ones that got it. Having said that, i don't think that any true and knowledgeable metal fan will care about this (just like the Grammys). Most of the "winners" here are pieces of hot garbage so i wont be mad or upset about this show, just slightly amused.

Besides, as it's been stated no decent Metal band wants to be part of these joke awards anyway.  Metal always has that "underground" nature about it.  Giving out awards for it is kind of counter productive as Metal is supposed to be music that cannot be appreciated by mainstream audiences.  Basically, the LESS awards a Metal band has is more of an indicator of how much they value their music.  (Of course this isn't a blanket rule.)  

These awards do frustrate me though mainly because they showcase Metal the way mainstream crowds look at it.  Like Sargon said in a review; it's the sort of music that is stereotypically metal to those who have never actually listened to metal.  (eg. Bullet for My Valentine, SlipKnot etc.)

EDIT: Turns out I do know who Corey Taylor is.  SlipKnot; urgh.  These awards seem keen to acknowledge old metal bands such as Motley Crue and Alice Cooper.  It'd be nice if they were more aware of recent metal bands from different genres who are doing far more interesting stuff than Avenged Sevenfold.  Best drummer my ass.  They obviously don't choose based on technical ability...
