I can't quite remember the name, but there is a cool one up Camden Market. In fact, that whole street is dedicated to the alternative music scene, with t-shirt and bondage stores and the like moving all the way from the Underground station to the neighbourhoods surrounding it. There's also a cool pub on the corner where a lot of metalheads go. It's called The World's End  ylsuper

Actually, last time I was there, I picked up three Doomsword albums.

I remember seeing lots of metal looking shops in Camden, but be careful, everything seems to close really early.  It was still light out when I went and everything was closed.  If you're looking for bars I'd recommend going to the Crobar.  I went there and it was full of metalheads and an awesome metal jukebox.  http://www.crobar.co.uk/  I'd also recommend checking out http://www.metaltravelguide.com/ to see all the metal places around and to see if there's one right near where you are staying.

As far as I know what you ask for does not exist.

The two HMV stores on Oxford street has respectable selections - but purely mainstream.

The camden shop is a joke - at least if you are looking for doom.  (And underground metal really. Their metal selection is very small - they seem more into industrial etc.) I was there for the second time just before christmas, and kind of regretted that I bothered.

I suspected this but thought that I at least could find a couple of more mainstream underground records:D

It's nice to buy a record in a shop for a change...

Thanks for tips!

Yep Ressurection records in Camden is your best bet, but it's rediculously overpriced, and there are far better metal selections elsewhere in the country. HMV in oxford street is ok too. Other than that London is disgustingly poor for metal, for a city of it's size.

I'm told that one is expected to haggle when shopping in Camden, so don't balk at the overpriced records and storm out, hah.
