New site menu
« on: August 21, 2010, 11:13:30 AM »

That was painful...

Anyway, I had to ditch the old menu because I don't have Photoshop anymore so I couldn't modify it.  Also I had a few new options to add (News and MP3 Store.)  Also, unlike the old one, you will now get some visible feedback when moving the mouse cursor over the various options.

Tested with IE7, IE8, Firefox, Opera and Chrome.  Seems to work fine except for when you are in the message board, you'll see a thin vertical line on the left edge of the screen.  Most likely it's the CSS for the menu and the board that are interfering with each other, but it doesn't prevent anything from working (nothing that I've seen so far anyway...)

Carry on...

Note: when not on the main page the menu is hard to read and the links don't highlight.

Edit: Never mind, that looks awesome.

I noticed that on the first run with Firefox, the links only display as a bulleted list (text.)  After a refresh it's fine.  I didn't see that happen with the other browsers.

Cool.  thumbup I used the "Old English" font for this one.  The old one used "Black Chancery".

Not working for me.

It might just be Safari, though. On the homepage, it appears as just a list of links in regular print, and on the other pages it doesn't appear at all.

edit: huh, that's weird. Right after I send the post it starts to work.

It's probably slow loading the images at first.  It used to be one large image.  Now it's 30 images and CSS-driven.  Safari is probably handling this differently.  Safari sucks too.

Seems to work fine except for when you are in the message board, you'll see a thin vertical line on the left edge of the screen.

If you put a margin-left of -2px on div#nfNavMenu you'll get rid of that line you're seeing (in FF anyway). Throw in a padding-left of 2px on the same element and that will align the nav with how it is on all the other pages (it won't shift when you switch from other pages to message board and vice versa).

Thanks!  I'll give that a try tonight (can't do any updates from this computer.)  The whole "menu that sticks on the left without frames" thing is something I found on the web and there were little explanations as to how it works, so it's been trial and error since day one.
