Metal_xxx's recommendation's thread!

Yeah, I've been finding my taste for metal to fizzle out a little lately. I need something new, regardless of genre to sink my head into, and really enjoy as I've had quite some trouble with that lately. I don't want a shitload of recommendations that I'll never get through, just a few for each genre.
Here's a list of bands I really really like, so you can take it from there. Thanks a bunch!
Heavy Metal:
- I'm mainly on the prowl for fantastic NWOBHM here like:
- old Iron Maiden
- Angel Witch
- Witchfinder General
- Diamond Head
- Cloven Hoof
Doom Metal:
- Mainly old stuff like
- Pagan Altar
- But also newer stuff like
- Candlemass
- Doomshine
Power Metal:
- I absolutely despise stuff like Sonata Arctica and Stratovarius so don't bother. I like rougher stuff, and if it has to be lighter, flowery stuff it has to be extremely catchy, and full of hooks to grab my attention. Blind Guardian won't get through by the way. Neoclassical stuff is nice too.
Death Metal:
- I'm extremely picky when it comes to Death Metal and only like a couple of bands like:
- Death
- Nile
- Gorod
Don't bother with bruuuutal stuff, as I never seem to get into that.
Black Metal:
- I find myself loving the new trendy, proggy and post-rocky stuff like. Melody is important here as well:
- Altar of Plagues
- Wolves in the Throne Room
- Enslaved
Thrash Metal:
- Maybe my most beloved genre after heavy metal. Not quite sure what to ask for but stuff like:
- Vendetta
- Deathrow
- Darkness
- Tankard
- Destruction
- Heathen
- Overkill
Funeral Doom:
- Not familiar with this genre at all but I loved
- Arcana Coelestia
70's prog/rock
- Loving Yes, Rush, Captain Beyond, Focus, Pink Floyd and the likes so go ahead.
Remember that I only want what you think is the VERY best of each genre lister. That would be awesome.

I'll take the challenge of recommending you Death metal:
-The Chasm (if you haven't already listened to them)
-Mortem (from Peru, 'cause there's a brutal one from Russia)
-Yogth Sothoth
-Nocturnus
None of them are very brutal...at least from my point of view so you may find them enjoyable at least.
heh, I discovered by doing this that I'm also a bit picky with Death metal. My collection is very small

More doom:
Briton Rites: For mircalla
Forsaken: After the Fall (a must if you are into Candlemass style of doom)
Procession: The Cult of Disease
Valkyrie (Borderline between metal and doom): Any of their albums
Sinister Realm: S/T
Metal:
Steelwing: Lord of the Wasteland (listen and you would think the 80ies never ended)

I noticed you liked Gorod? Would much technical DM be of interest?
If so check Obscura's latest album, real cool and keeps in with the spirit of old ala Atheist and Cynic.
For thrash if you haven't already heard Forbidden I'd highly recommend them. I've found alot of enjoyment in the more technical/progressive blend of thrash metal lately if that sounds good to you check out Toxik and Realm
Everyone has already pointed out a load of spot on power metal, I'm guessing you've heard Iron Savior? If not they're well worth a look.

I'm not particularly fond of Tech death in general no... But I seem to enjoy Gorod more than other stuff.. Will check out those bands you mentioned.
Anyway, I didn't really like Tad Morose. Tried Nocturnal Rites again a couple of months ago, and found them mindless and boring. Virgin Steele, Hibria and Uriah Heep are all great. So is Atheist by the way. I can't stand Cynic though. I love Forbidden and should probably have put them in my list. Iron Savior is also cool.
Thanks guys.
