Introducing... The Metal Crypt MP3 Store

For those who purchase MP3s....
This has been in the making for a while. We now have a MP3 store, which is an affiliation with Metalhit.com and Klicktrack. The store is branded with The Metal Crypt name and logo, but we are not involved in the actual operation of the store (i.e. for any questions/issues, refer to the store's Help page and FAQ.)
You can find the store here:
http://www.klicktrack.com/themetalcrypt
A mini-FAQ:
http://www.metalcrypt.com/faq.php#mp3store
A lot of the stuff reviewed here can be found in the store, but of course many things are not there. I've modified the Affiliates section in the reviews and added a link the the MP3 Store. For
future
reviews, if the album is sold at the store then the link will bring you directly to the album's page (pretty much like the links for The End Records and Amazon), otherwise it will initiate a search for the band name (which may or may not yield a result.) You can of course run your own search or just browse the store once you are there.
As an example, the reviews for the new Celestia album have a link that brings you directly to the album's page:
http://www.metalcrypt.com/pages/review.php?revid=5958
You'll notice that buying a full album there is
generally
a
much
better deal than buying individual songs.

Only looked briefly but it seems pretty cool. I generally will buy mp3s if the material is otherwise hard to find/criminally overpriced so I'll definitely look more into it

I'm a bit dissapointed with the mp3 market, as I personally despise the quality of mp3. The only reason I use it is due to limited HD capacity on my current mp3player. When you purchase a CD, not only do you get the booklet, and the CD casing, but you get the option to rip it to whatever quality you prefer. I think the mp3 market should allow downloads in lossless formats as well as mp3. This is the only reason I will never buy mp3s, as with many releases, I couldn't care less about the booklet or casing as long as I just got the music. But if it has to be in mp3, I couldn't be bothered.
Then again I might have failed horribly and taken the name too literally, perhaps they do allow lossless format purchases. Sorry if I'm speaking out an uninformed arse here.

They're 320Kbps mp3. I haven't seen a store yet that has a lossless format (not that I've looked much at such stores.) I could burn that to CD and tell you it's a CD-to-CD-R copy of a CD and you'd never know. I've done the test a couple of times with people claiming they could tell the difference. That was fun.
With that said, it's just an announcement for the store, nobody's putting a gun to your head.

Sorry Michel, it wasn't my intention to sound completely negative and pessimistic.
Though I don't plan to use it personally, I still see it as a great addition to the site. I just failed to add that part to my initial rant.

I have no problem with MP3's - but I don't think I will use this much; I have not been able to find a single track from even one of the 15+ test lookups I did.
Methinks klicktrack is not all that much into doom and epic metal....

Try searching under "labels" from the drop down menu. I checked Soulitude Records and found a bunch of death/doom bands. I saw several albums from Forefather as well.

They deal mostly with underground labels (the bigger ones don't necessarily like the $4.99/album approach). But it's growing rapidly. Like Mike said, use the drop downs and browse. I found a few things I didn't expect to find there just by browsing.

Just downloaded Trelleborg's
Lands of Njord
. Pagan/Viking Metal, sort of like Korpiklaani, but more serious, less "party" atmosphere, and in Russian as opposed to Finnish, and with harsh vocals to go with the clean ones. Long live the accordion as a metal instrument!
Not bad for $4.99 and signing up through The Metal Crypt MP3 store took 10 seconds. And you can use paypal, which is simple enough.
Edit: upon further review, they are more akin to Pagan Reign/Tverd than Korpiklaani. That'll teach me to make an off the cuff remark

I could read some reviews about these bands.
