Thanks to all of you for giving me your opinions on cassette tapes. I am thinking I might like to release a three song Cauldron Born EP/demo thing on cassette,so I can get something out this year. The problem is that I would rather not compromise the full length in doing so,so I was hoping that the people who are really interested in Cauldron Born would buy the cassette and those who would immediately take it and upload it for free all over the internet, would see it as too much trouble to deal with, and just turn their nose up at it. The reason I would like to make the cassette is that I would like to have something out this year. I am not really looking to make a profit, just break even.  I would just like to have something to whet the appetite of those who are interested. I wanted to put a couple of songs up on myspace for everyone to listen to and figured I might as well have an actual limited edition pressing of it for those who want to listen to it away from their computers. I was thinking two songs that will be on the album, plus maybe a Heavy Load cover. Thanks again guys.

Howie
While I don't ever use tapes anymore, I am extremely interested in any new Cauldron Born material available in whatever way it could be made available.

Thanks again to all of you. I have been reading everyone's responses and I talked with some friends at other record labels, and I am leaning towards just waiting and releasing the full length only. I would still like to do that Heavy Load cover though. When Cauldron Born was on Underground Symphony, they asked me if I would like to record a couple songs for a Heavy Load tribute album. Unfortunately, that album never came to fruition. The label owner explained to me that most of the guys in the young symphonic metal bands on his label had never heard of Heavy Load.

Hey Sargon!

I have three new songs written and am trying to get them demoed out. David Louden and I have been talking and we are going to see how it goes. There are a couple of local guys who I am looking at to possibly play on it. I will post more as it develops.

The lyrics have a theme connecting all of the songs and are 100% Howardian Sword & Sorcery.I have had this theme in mind for years. I could get an EP done by the end of the year, but the full length will take much longer. Thanks.

I had to ask myself this question recently, as I found out that Nachtreich's Sturmgang release was on tape only. This is a release I really want, but from what I've gathered, ripping from tapes is quite tricky and can give less than favourable results. I would rip it because I don't wish to bring along my mp3 player, discman, and buy a casette player to drag around as well. It would be too tricky and impractical to listen to, and I would also have to buy a casette player. As I mostly listen to music on my computer or while I'm moving about, I decided not to purchase it. This was also due to getting a response to a mail I sent their label, that stated they would re-release the album on CD and vinyl once the tapes sold out. I really don't like having to wait though, but each way would suck one way or another. Of course I wish to support bands, but I also wish to be able to listen to the band's music in a practical and desireable way.
