I think Powerslave has the best production, but I love BNW. It's a very clever record for Maiden, especially as a comeback for Dickinson/Smith. Dance Of Death sounds cool but there's too much filler (the epics are excellent, though), and I thought everything about AMOLAD was great. It was dark and brooding like The X Factor, which is one of Maiden's greatest moments, if you ask me.

I truly wish they would redo the XFactor with Bruce. Some great tunes on there, absolutely wrecked by Blaze.

Looking forward to this even though El Dorado wasn't particularly awesome or anything. AMOLAD is a great album by the way. And the production on this sounds slightly dirtier, which is great. Shirley is still shit, I'll give the haters that.

The X Factor had some solid tunes in the first half, but songs like "Fortunes of War" and that closing song with the awful chorus just don't do anything for me. "The Aftermath" and "Judgment of Heaven," plus maybe the first three, are the only ones I consider to be truly worthy of the Maiden name...the only ones, at least, with the strongest songwriting.

I think Blaze's vocals will always be a better fit for The X Factor material than Dickinson's. His voice really captured the darkness that album carried. I really like that album, more so than No Prayer For the Dying and Fear of the Dark.

Really? I feel like Blaze wasn't really that bad. The biggest problems with X-Factor and Virtual XI were the fault of Steven, in my opinion.

I really don't feel like Fortunes of War is a bad song at all. The intro is very slow and pointless, but when the song gets galloping, I dig it. I also liked this album more as a whole when I realized that The Edge of Darkness is about Apocalypse Now/Heart of Darkness, even though it's not really a standout tune.

Blaze is just not a great vocalist. On his solo stuff though, I can deal with him. In Maiden, his voice just didnt fit the songs. Edge of Darkness though, is a great song. One of my faves off that album.

I've listened to it a few times now, its playing on the radio. I'm just having a hard time listening to Bruce in certain parts. His voice is....shrill? I use to love his vocals, but...damn, I don't know. Perhaps he shouldnt be hitting all those high notes now?

Now my most anticipated of the entire year, I think. Although Kamelot might be close when I see some track listing and cover art...

Yeah, having nothing but the promise of a new album from Kamelot is kind of trying.

I don't have high hopes for the new Kamelot, not after their last one. The new Maiden and Blind Guardian albums are the ones I'm looking forward to. Actually, on the day The Final Frontier is released over here I'm going to a Tess Gerritsen book signing, which should be fun.  Grin

Ghost Opera was a great album. Love that one. New BG I'm sure will be cool, but I'm not quite as stoked for that as I am these two.
